Position Summary: We are seeking a Payroll Tax Analyst to join our team in our Chandler, AZ office, or as a remote worker.

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for handling federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance, preparation of various payroll tax payments and returns, as well as working directly with clients to resolve tax related issues.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the payroll tax function, including accurate and timely processing, reporting, reconciliation and tax administration
  • Oversee all facets of multi-state payroll tax payment processing, tax return preparation, and payroll tax reporting compliance
  • Resolve tax notices and discrepancies by analyzing information and processing corrections
  • Oversee system maintenance to include set up/testing when tax changes occur
  • Lead tax reporting including researching and responding to all tax inquires
  • Review and prepare new tax registrations when moving into new tax jurisdictions
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation, balancing, processing, and funding of payroll tax payments
  • Review and file monthly, quarterly, annual returns for all taxing authorities
  • Maintain current knowledge of all payroll tax regulations including federal, state, and local regulations
  • Notify leadership of regulatory updates, and propose and implement required changes
  • Lead year end W-2 processes and reconciliations
  • Support and lead special projects as needed in support of the payroll tax function
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex data, make determinations free from immediate direction, and ensure that payroll taxes are appropriately processed
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations as well as the ability to read, understand, and analyze highly complex regulatory payroll tax information
  • Must be results-oriented and able to handle multiple projects or tasks in a timely and effective manner in a fast paced environment
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Professional Employer Organization (PEO) or related industry experience preferred
  • MasterTax and HR Pyramid software experience a plus
  • FPC or CPP Certification a plus

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years multi-state payroll tax, tax return preparation and high volume experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Highly proficient in using MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), WebEx (or similar platform) and Internet
  • Strong technical, time management and organization skills
